I always had a real problem with this, it means that god allowed people to be born for destruction, not a course of justice or love at all

"Good News of God's Kingdom"?
by micheal inwhat's so good about it?
99.9% of earth's population will be wiped off the planet.
humm...(rubs chin with fingers) last time i checked, having over six billion men, women and children destroyed isn't so good.

by acsot ini've already exited the jws in mind and heart, and have read many comments from everyone about the book, so didn't really see the need to buy it for myself.

I'm a telecoms engineer and it's a bit more complex than simple GPS. As an aside GPS doen't need line of sight. You can secrete one of these trackers in an out of the way place on a car under the bonnet or in a tyre well etc and it still gets picked up.
Currently you can tell the general area that a phone is located in by the nearest cell - that will give you a location down to perhaps a 500m radius in a city but could be several km radius outside of a city. Potentially each cell has a range of 30km but practically you only have a limited number of time slots on the signal so have to heavily overlap. It's a pretty inexact science at the moment but you can sort of triangulate the location of a phone by taking the registered power levels from the 3 adjacent cells. Pretty soon we will be producing phones with gps like trackers but it's all a bit of a smokescreen. With the advent of 3g you will be able to accurately pinpoint the location of a cell phone anyway due to the signal process and the fact that these phones maintain a constant IP connection.

Things that remind you of the WT BS

I shit you not, she genuinely said that, it was about '88 or '89 when microwaves hadn't been around long.
It was stuff like this that really turned me off the dubs, the stupidity to defer their decisions to a 'higher authority' made up of cheese and cracker men

see this is the thing, on the one hand I could say that I was a real pain in the butt so when i have kids I will be super vigilent but thinking about it Clare and I have decided to be honest and give them some leeway so long as they let us know what they are up to.
Point in case would be smoking. I started when I was 14 and up til then I had always said I would never smoke. I stopped smoking 3 months ago, so 17 1/2 years later. Now can I turn round to my kids and forbid them to smoke or would it be more productive to say 'ok, you can smoke but this is what happens if you do'. To be honest I'm not sure if this would work but if the kid is going to smoke then there's no way you can physically stop them, so what do you do?

lets sue the watchtower!!
by dustyb ini wonder if a person could get away with suing the watchtower for stressful thinking and loss of life.
because if you think about it, it's illegal to tell people what to do (slavery), but they claim that everyone has the right mind and that they aren't telling anyone what to do.
i wonder if you could get it suggested by the courts that wts tries to control through written language in the watchtower magazine or somethin, iono.

that's a good point, one to ponder may be suing them under the EU laws which are quite stringent

Quite the opposite, he's actually an intelligent man...sorry, you don't get to be President by being an idiot. He won votes by giving tax cuts? The tax cuts happened after he was elected. The budget problems aren't really related to the tax cuts...in fact...the tax cuts brought us out of the recession and will, in the long term, increase government revenues. The budget problem is in part due to the hit the economy took from the recession (that started under Clinton), 9-11, and the ENRON scandal, add to that ridiculous programs that we can't afford (the prescription drug benefit)
He doesn't come across as particularly intelligent and I think you'll find that alot of the budget problems came about as a result of the excessive spending related to Afghanistan and Iraq. True, the tax cuts put money back into people's pockets and that generates spending in the economy but the vast bulk of the tax cuts benefitted the rich and that money does not go back into the mix, it goes straight into the stock market
Why do you think the prescription drug benefit is rediculous? We have a national health service here that takes care of people who cannot afford private health care. I don't understand how America can be proud of having so many people with no access to healthcare when it is the most prosperous nation on earth.

microwaves - ok, you're going to have to go with me on this one. A sister I used to play badminton with once told me that she wasn't going to get a microwave because the GB hadn't endorsed them in the magazines and she didn't trust them

How the WTS brings a child's confidence & self-esteem down

" i suffered this as a jw and i completely blame the wts for it.

I got picked on badly for being a dub, I am not a 'turn the other cheek' kind of guy and put two kids in hospital before they all left me alone.
I think the emotional picking on was worse though. Being shunned for being different and not having friends was really tough, coupled by the fact that the kids my age in the cong were freaks made my teenage years pretty lonely. In the end it's made me extremely resilient and very independant, to the point of being very comfortable with my own company. It was only after leaving home and joining the real world that I learnt how to interact with people socially

yes you can, there have been various occurrences of this. If I remember rightly this is what they used as a technicality to df Ray Franz
